NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct. 5, 2023 /Christian Newswire/ -- In a massive effort to share hope with hundreds of thousands around Kenya, the Luis Palau Association partnered with more than 2,000 churches from every denomination to put on the Love Nairobi Festival. This free evangelistic festival, featuring live music, action sports, and fun for the whole family, aimed to unite churches throughout the region with the common purpose of sharing the Gospel and inviting people into a relationship with Jesus.

The campaign – led by evangelist Andrew Palau and his wife, Wendy – featured gatherings throughout the region reaching every sector of society. For the lead-up to this festival, the Luis Palau Association held more than 160 events in and around Nairobi, including prison outreaches, eyeglass and medical clinics, a women's dinner, sports clinics, school outreaches, media interviews, a business and civic leaders event, and more. All this was in anticipation of the free, three-day festival at the University of Nairobi grounds on September 15-17. In total, the Nairobi campaign reached more than 130,000 people in-person with the Good News and recorded and led 37,790 people in a personal commitment to Jesus Christ.

The culminating three-day festival featured music and live performances from Don Moen, Evelyn Wanjiru, Pompi, Christafari, Jabidii, Moji Short Babaa, Sovereign, Eko Dydda, Mercy Masika, as well as a surprise performance from Kenya's own King Kaka. In addition to the musical line-up from mainstage, the family-friendly festival incorporated a children's area, which included face painting, bounce houses, balloon animals, and a special program for kids, as well as action sports demonstrations (featuring The Stunt Dudes). Andrew Palau highlighted the program each night by sharing a clear Gospel message from the main stage and challenging those in the crowd to give their life to Jesus Christ. Thousands of local believers (who were trained by the Palau team) helped counsel and follow up with each new believer at the festival.

Over and above the campaign in Nairobi, Andrew and Wendy also invited partner evangelists from five continents—in connection with Palau's Global Network of Evangelists—to help spread the Good News throughout the surrounding area. Partnering with hundreds of local churches, they held additional evangelistic festivals and gatherings in the cities of Nanyuki, Karatina, Embu, Murang'a, and Machakos. Through the wider Love Kenya campaign, an additional 216,097 individuals were reached in person, with a 28,505 making a decision to follow Christ.

On top of the plethora of on-the-ground events that took place in Kenya, our team also spearheaded an innovative digital evangelism strategy, sharing the Good News of Jesus through targeted social media ads. At the time of reporting, more than 302,000 people had been reached with the Gospel ads throughout Kenya, with 3,685 indicated decisions for Jesus Christ.

In total – including all events and gatherings in Nairobi, as well as the surrounding five cities – organizers estimate more than 346,500 people were reached in person with the Gospel, an additional 302,000 were reached through Palau's digital evangelism efforts, and more than 69,980 people indicated a commitment to Jesus Christ.

While local leaders begin the follow up and discipleship process with new believers, the Palau Association will move on to support similar campaigns in cities across the globe. Upcoming outreaches for the Palau Association include campaigns in Egypt, Uruguay, Panama, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, Zambia, and Argentina.
