FLEMINGTON, N.J., June 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- The organizers of the Revelation Generation, an annual day-long Christian Music festival scheduled for September 2nd at Revelation Farms in Frenchtown, N.J., recently invited over 160 pastors and ministry leaders from greater Hunterdon County to join them in “the harvest.”
The Revelation Generation luncheon -- held June 6 at Razberry’s in Frenchtown -- gave a sneak preview of the upcoming festival, which will be held at Revelation Farms in Frenchtown. The event -- which features a wide variety of contemporary Christian musicians and speakers -- seeks to bring a positive message to today’s youth, many of whom battle with drug and alcohol use, identity issues, and sexual promiscuity.
“We want to point to Christ as the ultimate solution,” said Sean Grom, who heads up the grassroots marketing for Revelation Generation.
“Young people want to identify with someone and who better to identify with than Jesus Christ?” said Brian Jacobus, Youth Pastor at Shepherd of the Valley Church in Milford.
Revelation Generation—founded by local businessman Robert Grom and his wife Kim Grom—features the Newsboys, Relient K, MXPX, Plumb, KJ-52, Salvador, House of Heroes, Brian Littrell (of the Backstreet Boys), The Afters, and guest speakers Stephen Baldwin, Kurt Schafer, Justin Lookadoo, and Duffy Robbins. The event will be held on the spacious property of Revelation Farms with two music stages, a special events stage, extreme games, a tent featuring local food and retail vendors, and children’s activities.
Last year’s inaugural Revelation Generation drew approximately 4,000 young people. Expectations are even higher this year and several local churches are uniting to make it happen. At the luncheon, concert organizers sought to add churches and volunteers to the one-day event, which goes from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“I sense that God is doing something in our community—He wants to bring in a harvest,” said Pastor Ed Hatcher of Central Hunterdon Baptist Church. “This is bigger than a one-time event.” Rev. George Bachelder, of Shepherd of the Valley Church, quoted the words of Christ in Matthew 9:37-38: "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Rev. Bachelder said, “Where are the workers?” “You are the workers.” “Revelation Generation is not just a concert,” said Rev. Jacobus. “We want to see young people’s lives changed.”
